There’s something magical about creating a piece of jewellery with your own two hands. The sound of metal being filed, the warmth of the soldering torch, the satisfying shine that appears after polishing — it all comes together in the Silver Ring Making Workshop.
Stepping Into the Workshop
As you arrive, the workbenches are laid out with tools, copper, and silver, ready for you to dive in. There’s a quiet buzz of excitement as everyone takes their seat — some are complete beginners, others have dabbled before, but all are curious to see what they can create.
Our professional jeweller, Lesley-Ann, begins by demonstrating each step, guiding you through the process with patience and encouragement. First, you’ll try your hand at a practice piece in copper — measuring, cutting, filing, and shaping until the metal begins to feel familiar in your hands. It’s here that you start to realise: yes, I really can do this.
The Joy of Making
Once you’re confident, it’s time to move on to silver. This is where the magic happens. With each step — soldering your ring closed, adding textures, polishing to a shine — the piece becomes unmistakably yours. Some choose simple, elegant bands, while others experiment with textures, gemstones, or decorative accents.
The atmosphere in the studio is always the same: focused, friendly, and often full of laughter when someone discovers just how fiddly (and fun) the process can be. By the end, every person has two beautiful skinny stacking rings — unique, handmade, and infused with their own creativity.
More Than Just Jewellery
What makes this workshop special isn’t just the end result — it’s the experience. It’s the shared pride when someone holds up their finished ring, the joy of learning something completely new, and the satisfaction of walking away with jewellery you crafted yourself.
With small class sizes (no more than six people), there’s plenty of time for one-to-one support, ensuring that every participant feels confident and supported throughout.
Take a Piece of the Day With You
Whether you make your rings for yourself or as a gift, they carry a story — of the day you spent learning, experimenting, and creating. For many, it’s the start of a new hobby. For others, it’s simply a fun, memorable way to spend a few hours.
